About MFAT
MFAT is the public service department of New Zealand charged with advising the government on foreign and trade policy, and promoting New Zealand's interests in trade and international relations.
Mission
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade acts in the world to make New Zealand safer and more prosperous. We interpret changes, provide advice to the Government on their implications, and then act to promote and protect New Zealand’s interests. By building connections and influence in other countries we secure the outcomes that matter to New Zealand.
